About Us

I've been involved in the fitness industry since 1980 as either a professional
or a participant. When I started, there was no such thing as step aerobics,
cardio kickboxing, or aerobic choreography as we know it today. There were
no such things as stability balls, fitness bands, or exercise tubing. Pilates
and yoga existed but most people had no idea what they were about and
didn't care anyway -- they were not for "normal" people. I tell you this not to
prove I'm old :) but to explain that I've been involved in the group fitness
world from the very beginning.

I taught aerobics for a brief time during the mid-1980s, but most of that time
I spent taking classes at local gyms and aerobics studios. In the early 90s, I
discovered the world of home workout videos, which quickly became a
passion. Believe me when I say I've seen or done them all!

Fast-forwarding to 1996, the year the internet finally became mainstream,
another home fitness enthusiast founded Videofitness.com. I was a regular
participant there, writing literally hundreds of fitness video reviews. I
exercised to and reviewed virtually any exercise video or DVD I could get my
hands on.

As time went on, the typical video offerings weren't as satisfying as they once
had been, and I started searching for, finding, and reviewing
non-mainstream videos. During all of this, I found it frustrating that one had
to go into the far nooks and crannies of the internet world and elsewhere to
find these unknown videos and take the risk of handing over money to
unknown companies. I wished for a single source for all of these
hard-to-find videos which were often better than anything widely available. I
finally decided I would solve this problem myself, and Fitness Organica was
born.

I started Fitness Organica in 2004 because there were
so many unknown fitness and yoga DVDs out there that
most people didn't know about. I work directly with
small and independent producers, many of whom are
the instructors themselves. These dedicated and
talented professionals previously had little or no access
to the retail distribution channels because the large
"powers-that-be" simply don't find it profitable to work
with small businesses. In addition, many of them are
from countries other than the USA. They face a double
whammy when trying to reach the USA markets.

My purpose is two-fold. One is to work with these niche
producers and instructors to help them bring their work
to a wider audience. The second is to provide you with
fresh, new options for your workouts.

My product catalog is not your typical, run-of-the-mill
workout DVD collection. Instead, you'll find hard-to-find
or unknown fitness and yoga DVDs produced out of love
and passion for the art of fitness, and carefully and
thoughtfully hand-picked by me to bring you the best of
the best.
